Residential and Commercial Air Conditioner & Heater Repair, Sales, & Installation in Arlington Heights, IL

Arlington Heights, IL

History

Arlington Heights was founded during the early part of the 19th century. Although many early inhabitants were Americans who migrated from points farther east, the town quickly established vibrant communities of German and Eastern European immigrants. For most of the 19th and early 20th century, Arlington Heights was a relatively quiet agricultural area. The construction of the Arlington Park Racetrack turned the town into a regional tourist destination. These days, Arlington Heights is a major employment center in its own right and an important bedroom community for Chicago.

Geography

Arlington Heights is located about 20 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. It’s served by a comprehensive network of thoroughfares, including Interstate 90, Illinois Highway 53, U.S. Highway 12 and U.S. Highway 14. Office parks and towers cluster around these thoroughfares’ major intersections. Away from heavily traveled roads, Arlington Heights has a mix of medium- and low-density housing subdivisions and commercial strips. Physically, the landscape has moderate tree cover and rolling topography.

Population and Demographics

Arlington Heights continues to grow rapidly. The town’s population recently passed the 75,000 mark and could reach 90,000 by the end of the decade. There remains a significant amount of undeveloped land in Arlington Heights’ northern fringes, providing ample opportunity for new housing construction. Many locals are white-collar workers who commute to Chicago or nearby office parks on a daily basis. Families with school-age children are well-represented here.
